Ski touring in Lyngen Alps
Ski touring in Norway Touring ski in Lyngen Alps Ski touring near Tromso

Norway : ski touring and fjords.

Above the Arctic Circle on an isolated peninsula, the Lyngen Alps offer a dream background for those who appreciate snowy adventures. Every day we will explore new slopes above the fjords and enjoy breathtaking scenery bathed in the incomparable northern light. Fresh, light powder leads down to a seashore lined with pretty villages and colourfully painted wooden houses.

This year, starting from Tromso we have two different destinations :
- with the Langyosund boat
- at the Lyndgen Lodge

Langyosund ship

Our base is the LANGOYSUND, an old 27m fishing boat with 8 2-berth cabins, a living area for 24, a bar and a television. She has been re-equipped for cruising in arctic waters! A real floating refuge, she sails every day to a different drop off point. All the climbs begin at sea level and depending on what we feel like doing, they range from 800m to 1300m of ascent. The sailing takes place in channels formed by the thousands of islands along the Norwegian coast and in the fjords. This is when you will have the opportunity to relax as you please : resting in your cabin, chatting in the living area, listening to music, cod fishing or taking photos on the bridge... The boat can also drop you off on the shore for an improvised wood-fire BBQ. At this time of year the Northern Lights are often visible and if we're lucky they will provide a magnificent and unique show.

Lyngen Lodge Speed boat in Lyngen Alps This trip takes place in Norway in the same area of the Lyngen Alps as the previous trip and consists of the same features in terms of ski touring. The difference is that we will be staying in a very comfortable lodge located at the heart of the region’s main ski area. This lodge is the only one of its kind and opened its doors last November for its first winter season in 2008. The level of comfort is excellent with a large lounge area with open fire, a convivial dining room, a sophisticated kitchen, 8 twin bedrooms with bathrooms, a sauna and outdoor Jacuzzi. And all of this is just a few metres from the banks of the Lyngen Fjord opposite the Lyngen Alps. This lodge is dedicated to a clientele that is ski touring in the area. As a result of this, all organisation at the lodge is based exclusively around this activity and therefore it offers an unrivalled base from which to enjoy our favourite sport. Each day, a fast, comfortable, covered boat takes us to the ski areas or a mini-bus takes us to the start of the tours that are accessible via the little road that runs alongside the fjord. This trip has been created for those people who wish to go ski touring in this unique setting but have been put off by the fact that they had to stay on a boat with a similar level of comfort as a mountain hut, living in close proximity to one another.
